MONTFORT CENTRE FOR EDUCATION

Danakgre, established in 1995 is a co-educational English medium minority Christian Educational Institution owned and run by the Society of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, Province of North-East India. The school is recognised by the Government of Meghalaya and is affiliated to Meghalaya Board of School Education. (MBOSE).

The system of education followed in the school is method taught and practised by St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, a great lover of the youth and the poor. It is based on a personal awareness of God, conviction, kindness and prevention of faults.

MONTFORTIAN EDUCATION AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Montfortian organization caters to the various educational needs of children and of the youth. Apart from the normal academic schools (Regular School) it also imparts Technical education, Education for the Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired, Physically and Mentally Challenged. It engages in village and slum uplift and social work especially among the downtrodden and the marginalized.

Montfortian education seeks to work for the total development of the young. They are helped to discover their God given talents and work towards their fullest development in order to place them at the service of the society. It seeks to enable the young to search for the truth by training them to analyze reality, form critical judgments, search for solutions and work out a synthesis.- It is concerned with forming a moral conscience that is capable of discerning what is good and choosing it.- It pays attention to the development of the capacity to engage in relationships marked by sincerity and self determination and training to understand the complex political reality to enter it in a constructive way.-

It instills in the pupils the values of love, freedom, forgiveness, honesty and justice.

Total Education which implies a holistic approach to education and which is concerned with the total development of an individual as a person, is the quintessence of Montfortian Education. It aims at developing the body, mind and spirit to the greatest extent.

The aim of Montfort Centre for Education, Tura is to form students into integrated human beings whose intellectual, emotional, moral and physical well-being will enable them to face the challenges of tomorrow. All the while being firmly rooted in our culture, love for our country, faith in God, love for human beings, respect for all lives and caring for the environment - as exemplified in the life and teachings of Lord Jesus Christ.

The education imparted is characterized by thoroughness, high principles and a freedom which helps the students to grow in responsibility, self-reliance and the ability to make wise decisions. The pursuit of excellence according to each one's potential is of paramount importance.
