Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent from any Board / University Total number of Seats: 20 seats per year. Duration of the Course: 2 years Course Fees: Rs. 10,000.00 per year Hostel / Boarding Fees: Rs. 2500.00 per month including mess fees.

The course is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi and IGNOU, Delhi. Last Date for Admission for the year 2011-2013: 15th March 2011

Stipend

The Centre helps the poor students to get Stipend of Rs. 2000.00 per month

Working Hours: 09:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.Monday through Saturday.

The training consists of lectures, practical demonstration lessons, practice teaching of Blind children, Deaf children, preparation of teaching aids, visit to reputed and model institutions in the country, seminars and hands on experience in Braille, routine care of aids for the Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired and effective use of low vision aids, tactile aids and mobility aids in the education of the Blind and hearing Aids, Speech Trainer and Audiometer in the education of the Hearing Impaired.

Requirements

The minimum qualification is 10+2. Admission is based on the entrance test conducted by the Centre.

· A well equipped Audio-Vision and other Aids department including a Computerized Braille Printer, Computerized Audiometer, Speech Trainer, etc.
· A well stocked library with over 10000 titles on Blindness Studies, Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, & Special Education · Current journals on Education of the Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired and Rehabilitation.

Residential facilities for Trainees

Separate residential facilities for male and female Teacher Trainees are available on campus. Mess and hostel charges will have to be borne by the Trainees on dividing basis. Hostel and Mess Fees: Rs. 2500.00 per month

How to reach Montfort Centre

MCE is 6 km from Tura town on the way to Danakgre and about 250 km from Guwahati Railway Station. From Guwahati take day bus (6:30 a.m.) or night bus (8:30 p.m.) to Tura. It is about 6hours drive. Sumo service is also available from Guwahati, Matchkhowa in the morning and afternoon. After reaching Tura take an auto or taxi to MCE. The current fare is Rs.40 to Rs.50 to reach the Centre. You can also take town bus to Danakgre and get down at the gate of Montfort Centre.
